«Peat Hotel» and narrow-gauge railway for tourists to appear in Belarus
In Belarus, a Peat Industry Center has opened at the site of the first peat briquette factory in the village of Usyazh, Smolevichi District. Its goal is to preserve the history of the industry, develop industrial tourism, and introduce visitors to the process of peat extraction and processing, reports BelTA.

In the future, a whole tourist complex is planned to be created here. Among the main projects:
- construction of a narrow-gauge railway with stations for excursion trips;
- creation of an outdoor set for the «Belarusfilm» film studio, which is already being called «Smolywood»;
- reconstruction of the «BelPalivaGazKomplekt» building into the «Peat Hotel»;
- development of hiking, cycling, and railway tourist routes.

Also planned is the opening of a garden center with peat-based products, the organization of tourist rallies, festivals, peat football competitions, a jeep trial called «Peat Fast and Furious», as well as the construction of thematic peat houses.

According to industry data, about 2 million tons of peat are extracted annually in Belarus. Approximately 1 million tons of products are made from it: about 800 thousand tons are used as fuel, which allows replacing up to 400 million cubic meters of natural gas, and another about 200 thousand tons go to non-fuel needs — including for agriculture and other sectors.
