On the afternoon of September 2, neighbors informed rescuers about a fire in a house in the agro-town Buinichy, Mogilev district.
When MES employees arrived at the scene, the house was already burning with open flames, and there was heavy smoke inside. According to neighbors, the 67-year-old owner, who lived alone, might have been inside.
In one of the rooms, rescuers found the body of a man born in 1959. The search was complicated by high temperatures, collapsed structures, and heavy smoke. As a result of the fire, the roof burned down, and the ceiling and property in the house were damaged.
One of the main versions for the cause of the fire is considered by the investigation to be careless handling of fire. The Mogilev inter-district department of the Investigative Committee is conducting a check.
On the same day, a fire also occurred in the district center of Kirovsk, Mogilev region. Passers-by noticed smoke from the balcony of an apartment on the second floor of a five-story building on Pushkin Street and called rescuers. No one was in the apartment at the time of the fire.
The fire damaged the walls and property in the corridor, and the walls and ceiling of the apartment were smoke-stained. No one was injured. A short circuit in an electric scooter is being considered as a possible cause of the fire.
