"I am a traitor to the homeland." A Minsk resident transferred his mother's money abroad and sold his car
A 68-year-old man received a call from a stranger who introduced himself as an investigator and accused the pensioner of treason.
Allegedly, the elderly man dictated a code from an SMS message, thus giving fraudsters access to his accounts. They then transferred the money to finance terrorism, reports "Minsk Police".
To prove his innocence, the man agreed to follow the stranger's instructions.
First, he took his mother's savings and transferred them abroad through a bank. He thought that this way he was declaring a large sum.
A few days later, the pensioner was called again and offered to "help the investigation" in exposing the fraudsters. For this, he sold his luxury car at a large discount and left the received 15,000 dollars in a hiding place under a garbage container.
After that, he went to the bank again and transferred another eight thousand rubles to various accounts.
All this time, the pensioner believed that he would get both his money and his car back. But when the fraudsters stopped contacting him, he told his son about the incident and reported it to the police.
