Two Belarusian Tourists Die in Batumi Accident — 43-Year-Old Woman and 63-Year-Old Man
The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the death of two Belarusian tourists in Batumi, Georgia, reports BelTA.
"As a result of the accident, two tourists died: a woman born in 1983 and a man born in 1963. Another 12 people with moderate and minor injuries were taken to hospitals," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
Earlier, Georgian media reported on the fatal accident that occurred on the morning of July 25 in Batumi. According to their reports, a bus and a car collided. Due to the strong impact, the minivan overturned, and the car crashed into the wall of the Batumi University of Arts building. The minivan was carrying a tourist group — citizens of Belarus.
"My children flew out of the minibus windows. My wife got out through the sunroof, and her friend died from the impact. They arrived today for a holiday, and the transfer was taking them to their hotels," a subscriber of the Batumi Telegram channel quotes one of the injured tourists as saying.
Another subscriber claims that the tourist transfer was from Kutaisi airport.
