Workers of the "Narachansky" National Park discovered a dangerous object during landscaping work for the new tourist parking lot "Studzyanets" near the agrotown Zanarach. They reported the find, which resembled a shell, to the police, Belta reports .
A sapper group arrived at the scene to defuse the ammunition. Specialists determined that it was a 76 mm artillery shell used during the hostilities of World War I.
Although the shell had been in the ground for a long time and was covered in rust, it still remained dangerous.
Sappers noted that any discovered ammunition should not be touched or moved — it is necessary to immediately report it to the police so that specialists can safely dispose of it.
Also, during such call-outs, sappers inspect the surrounding area, as other shells may be present in places where battles previously took place. Over time, the earth can push objects that have been underground for decades or even centuries to the surface.
