Russian drone destroyed an 18th-century wooden Cossack church in Kherson region
In the city of Beryslav, Kherson region, the Holy Presentation Church – an 18th-century architectural monument – was destroyed as a result of an attack by a Russian drone. After the strike, the temple caught fire and was completely destroyed, reported the Kherson Regional State Administration.

Regional authorities reported that it was the only preserved wooden Cossack sanctuary of that period in Ukraine. The church was erected in 1725 in the Perevolochna fortress from oak logs without the use of metal nails.
In 1784, Cossacks dismantled the temple, floated it down the Dnieper to Beryslav, and reassembled it in a new location. Since then, it has been closely connected with the history of the city's emergence and development.

Initially, the church was consecrated in honor of the Resurrection of Christ. In 1853, it was moved to the Presentation cemetery and re-consecrated in honor of the Entry of the Most Holy Theotokos into the Temple.
During the Soviet period, the temple was closed and used as a warehouse. At one point, it was even planned to dismantle it for firewood. Services in the church were briefly resumed only during World War II.

After the start of the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war, the temple remained under the administration of the Novokakhovka Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
According to information from the Kherson publication "Most", in August 2023, the Beryslav City Military Administration appealed to the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine with a proposal to return the temple to state ownership, but this appeal received no response.
