Belarusians received a 100 thousand euro bill after a trip to Portugal
A trip to Portugal for a Belarusian family ended with a large bill from a European clinic. After emergency treatment and evacuation by air ambulance, the cost of medical assistance amounted to about 100 thousand euros.
Tourists had to pay part of the amount themselves, while insurance covered part of the expenses. This was reported on "Radio Minsk" by Sergey Yakubitsky, Director General of "Beldzyarzhstrakh" (Belarusian State Insurance).
According to him, the family took out a standard insurance policy with a coverage limit of 30 thousand euros.
— On site, one of the spouses required serious treatment and evacuation by air ambulance. The total bill from the European clinic was 100 thousand euros. The insurance company covered only the 30 thousand euros stipulated by the contract.
The remaining 70 thousand euros must be paid to the hospital by the tourists themselves.
As the expert noted, when choosing an insurance policy, many primarily focus on its cost, but do not always take into account the amount of insurance coverage and the specifics of the trip.
