Minister of Communications: Mobile internet restrictions to affect 1.7 million Belarusians
The Ministry of Communications and Informatization announced that the new mobile internet limits will not affect everyone, but only less than 15% of subscribers. Minister Kiryl Zaleski stated this.
According to Kiryl Zaleski, unlimited tariffs as such are not being cancelled. Resolution No. 38 is part of systemic work to improve the quality of mobile communications in Belarus. The document introduces a restriction on the amount of traffic that can be used at unlimited speed: it will be 30 gigabytes per month. After reaching this threshold, the speed will decrease to 1 Mbit/s.
As the minister emphasized, these changes will affect only a small portion of users — those who consume very large volumes of traffic. On average, one subscriber in Belarus uses about 16 GB per month. Therefore, for most people, the new rules will go unnoticed.
The department believes that such measures will help unload mobile networks and provide stable and fast internet access for all subscribers. The minister also noted that if someone regularly uses 40-60 GB of traffic per month, they should consider the nature of such content.
In addition, Kiryl Zaleski drew attention to the fact that the cost of mobile communication and internet in Belarus remains low compared to other countries. Abroad, unlimited internet often costs $50-70 per month, while in Belarus it is about 20-40 rubles. He also stressed that since 2022, tariffs for unlimited plans have not increased, and their growth is not planned for 2026.

Пытанне ў іншым - а навошта ўводзіць такія абмежаванні на дзяржаўным узроўні? Гэта справа не дзяржавы, але аператараў. Нешта тут глыбока ня тое. Мо аператары не спраўляюцца з лагаваннем пакетаў (а яны ж па законе абавязаныя запісваць кожны чых карыстальніка, куды-калі-колькі байт адаслана), таму вырашылі хоць крыху абмежаваць.
