American goalkeeper Tim Cyrel has signed a contract with "Papierapram" from Gomel, which plays in the First League of the country's football championship (i.e., the second division).
The contract with the goalkeeper is valid until the end of 2027, writes "Belarusian Football".
Previously, the 22-year-old footballer played for "Oakland Roots" from the second division of the USA, where he played eight matches, conceded 16 goals, and kept a clean sheet twice.
"Papierapram" is in seventh place in the league table after 12 rounds, with 24 points.
Cyrel has a Belarusian passport. He said that his parents are from Belarus. His older sister was born in Belarus in 2001, and a year later the family moved to the USA, where he was born.
"My grandfather, grandmother, relatives, and close ones still live in Belarus, of course, besides my parents and sister. When I was little, we used to fly here almost every summer. But then it became much more difficult: there was a COVID outbreak, borders closed, logistics were disrupted — the last time I was in Belarus was eight years ago," he said.
