The fact is that along with the level of vitamin D, the concentration of the sex hormone testosterone increases in the male body.
The most sexually active are those representatives of the strong half whose blood contains no less than 30 nanograms of "sun vitamin" per milliliter, researchers from the Medical University of Graz (Austria) claim.
Moreover, the average testosterone content fluctuates significantly throughout the year. For example,
from October, when solar radiation decreases, the level of both substances (vitamin D, testosterone) significantly drops. Testosterone reaches its minimum value in March. It is during these months that male libido (sexual drive) also decreases.
The discovery confirms the results of previous studies, during which testosterone, secreted under the influence of the sun by Leydig cells in the testicles, participates in the development of male genital organs, secondary sexual characteristics, regulates spermatogenesis and sexual behavior, and also affects nitrogen and phosphorus metabolism.
According to scientists, the "sun" vitamin is also able to reduce the risk of colon cancer.
Studies have shown that those with the highest concentration of vitamin D in their blood suffer from oncological diseases 40% less often.
However, the sun can also harm: excessive tanning does not benefit the body. On the contrary, those who bake in the sun risk getting skin cancer. And they simply get tired faster.
Therefore, spend time outdoors, but do not tan specifically.
