Rescuers evacuated a 40-year-old climber who sustained injuries during the ascent from Elbrus, as well as the body of his 11-year-old son. A helicopter was used for the operation, the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the region reported, according to RBC.
"Rescuers of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, with the involvement of a commercial helicopter from the company "Heliaction," evacuated the injured person and the body of the deceased to Terskol village, where they were handed over to medics and the investigative-operational group of law enforcement agencies," the statement said.
On July 19, rescuers found an injured man and the body of a deceased 11-year-old boy on the eastern slope of Elbrus.
The father and son were ascending the eastern peak of Elbrus, but fell from a cliff at an altitude of about 4.2 thousand meters. As a result of the fall, the child died, and the man sustained serious injuries.
