A new criminal case opened against former political prisoner Pavel Mazheika
The authorities opened the case back on May 11, 2026, presumably under one of the political articles — Article 361-4 of the Criminal Code (assistance to extremist activities), writes "Hrodna Pravaabarona".
«I don't know exactly what the opened case is about. I know about dozens of so-called procedural actions against my relatives, family, and acquaintances: searches, interrogations, including informal conversations,» — says Pavel.
Interestingly, according to Mazheika, groups of security forces during searches are specifically looking for him in Belarus and are «surprised» that they cannot find him at all.
Simultaneously with interrogations within the framework of the initiated criminal case, during informal «mandatory» conversations, KGB officers oblige Mazheika's relatives to convey to him that he can return to Belarus without problems and safely.
According to Mazheika, similar «invitations» also reach other political prisoners who have been forcibly removed from Belarus.
