"I'll tell you — it's completely different!" At his 80th birthday in Wrocław, Nyaklyaeu compared the kisses of Brezhnev and Tsikhanouskaya

On July 11, a literary evening celebrating Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu's 80th birthday took place in the courtyard of the Ossoliński National Institute (Ossolineum) in Wrocław. Friends, colleagues, readers, as well as the United Transitional Cabinet of Belarus led by Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya came to congratulate the truly national poet and writer of Belarus, writes Reform.news.
Uladzimir Prakopavich was in good spirits, joked a lot, and complimented the guests.
The poet's witty remark after Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya's congratulatory kiss has already spread across the internet.
"I remembered that I once kissed Brezhnev. Well, I'll tell you — it's completely different!" the artist said and added. "Let's elect women — and there will be someone to kiss!"

The author of the novels "Soda Water Machine with Syrup and Without" and "Hey Ben Hinom" thanked the Polish side for its hospitality and refuge in exile.
On behalf of the hosts of the venue, representatives of Ossolineum's top management — Deputy Director of the Institute Grzegorz Makuch and Deputy Director for the Lubomirski Princes' Museum Joanna Bloch — addressed the poet with warm words and congratulations, personally greeting the Belarusian artist and the evening's guests.
In turn, the well-known Polish researcher of Central European literature, Doctor of Humanities, and Head of Communications at Ossolineum, Katarzyna Uchkiewicz, emphasized that Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu's work is particularly close to Polish culture and understandable to local readers, yet at the same time, the poet remains an incredibly original artist who reveals to the world the unique and inimitable voice of Belarus.
Congratulating the Nobel Prize nominee, guests also arrived from Białystok. Anatol Vap, head of the Belarusian Culture Center in Białystok, along with his well-known namesake — Yauhen Vap, editor-in-chief of the weekly "Niva" and director of "Radio Racyja" — presented the jubilee with a painting depicting a zubr (European bison).

It was the Białystok center, together with the Kamunikat.org foundation, that published Nyaklyaeu's new book of short stories, "The Holy Spring," for the jubilee. The event edition could be purchased and an autograph from the poet obtained right on the spot during the meeting.

Among the guests of the celebration were other prominent figures of contemporary culture — poets Andrei Khadanovich and Nasta Kudasava, and other artists.

The culmination of the event was the author's recitation. Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu once again proved that his word is capable of captivating and inspiring any audience — the poet was "on fire" and captivated the public with excerpts from his poems "Polonaise" and "Jagiello".

The literary evening concluded with a musical segment and a celebratory cake. After the event, a long queue of those eager to get the coveted autograph and personally wish the poet many years of life still stood for the jubilee.
