Onliner.by reviewed the current cost of tuition in Minsk universities and compiled a selection of the most expensive specialties for first-year students. Interestingly, "IT" specialties did not top the list — a designer's or economist's diploma may require even greater financial expenses.

The selection included state universities in Minsk. This is the cost for the first year of study — in subsequent years it is sometimes lower. Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU) and the Belarusian State Academy of Aviation were not included, as at the time of publication these universities had not yet announced the tuition fees for the 2026/2027 academic year. Admissions committees reported that current prices would be announced later.

8083 rubles — Pilots

This is the cost for the first year of study at the Belarusian State Academy of Aviation for the specialty "Flight Operation of Civil Aircraft". For future pilots, the first year is not the most expensive: the next few years of study cost over 60,000 rubles per year. This year, the academy plans to admit 5 students for state-funded places and 2 for paid forms of education.

6669 rubles — Orientalists, Diplomats, and Designers

Moving on to the most expensive specialties at Belarusian State University (BSU). These are two specialties from the Faculty of International Relations — "International Conflictology" and "International Relations", "Oriental Philology" at the Faculty of Philology, as well as all design specialties at the Faculty of Socio-cultural Communications.

6818 rubles — Lawyers and Africanists

For this amount, one can study legal specialties at BSU: "Jurisprudence", "Economic Law" at the Faculty of Law, as well as "International Law" at the Faculty of International Relations. Since last year, specialists in African countries have also been trained here.

After 4.5 years of study, graduates receive the qualification "Africanist. Translator" and can work in state administration bodies, diplomatic missions, business structures, and cultural institutions.

6554 rubles — Economists

For this amount, you can choose any specialty of the BSU Faculty of Economics and in the future become a manager, banking professional, or auditor. In the new academic year, all these specialties cost the same for first-year students.

5935 rubles — Biologists, Political Scientists, and Journalists

This price is set for all specialties of the BSU Faculty of Biology and Journalism, as well as for a number of other specialties. For example, "Political Science" at the Faculty of Law, "Psychology", "Sociology", and "Social Communications" at the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences, as well as "Socio-cultural Management and Communications" at the Faculty of Socio-cultural Communications.

5900 rubles — Dentists

This is the most expensive specialty at Minsk State Medical University. Tuition for other medical specialties or for a pharmacist will be cheaper — 5000 rubles per year.

5727 rubles — Translators and Philologists

These are the specialties "Modern Foreign Languages" and "Translation Studies" at the BSU Faculty of Socio-cultural Communications, as well as "Romance-Germanic Philology" at the Faculty of Philology. Graduates can work as linguists, translators, or lecturers.

5458 rubles — Programmers and Geologists

We have reached the technical specialties that can form the basis for a career in IT. Almost 5.5 thousand rubles is the cost of tuition at BSU for specialties of the Faculty of Radiophysics and Computer Technologies — "Cybersecurity", "Intelligent Electronics", "Applied Informatics", as well as for all specialties of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Informatics and for the profile "Computer Modeling and Web Application Development" at the Faculty of Socio-cultural Communications.

The same cost applies to a number of specialties of the Faculty of Geography: "Geoinformation Systems", "Hydrometeorology", "Cosmic Aerocartography and Geodesy", "Geotechnologies of Tourism and Excursion Activities", "Area Studies and Translation Activities".

5414 rubles — Economists and Logisticians

This is the cost for the first year of study for all specialties at the BSU Institute of Business. Such an education opens up opportunities for business management, as well as work in the fields of economics and logistics.

5250 rubles — More IT Specialists

The selection is concluded by the three most expensive faculties of Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR): Faculty of Computer Systems and Networks, Faculty of Information Technologies and Control, and the Engineering and Economic Faculty. Tuition for the first year across all specialties of these faculties costs the same — 5250 rubles per year.
