«I hope, but it's not a given that I'll get in»: an applicant who scored 100 points on all exams
Dominika Debaltovskaya is one of the few Belarusian applicants who managed to "strike": all three of the girl's Centralized Exam (CE) and Centralized Test (CT) certificates show perfect scores.
Smartpress.by found out how she managed to achieve such a high result, what future profession she chose, and why she is still worried about the results of the admissions campaign.
«I decided on my future profession back in 9th grade»
While some applicants study competitors and decide where to submit documents to have a better chance of admission, others do not hesitate and do not delay this moment. Dominika is precisely one of those who did not wait: she has already taken her first step towards higher education.
Journalists met with the girl near the Law Faculty of BSU, where the admissions committee of the country's leading university is operating.
The applicant decided on her future profession back in 9th grade and, as soon as the admission of documents began, submitted them for the specialty "International Law" at the Faculty of International Relations of BSU.
— I chose among specialties for which I had to take exams in subjects that I like and find easy: Russian and English languages, and social studies, — the interlocutor admits. — I settled on "International Law" because it combines prestigious legal education and in-depth study of foreign languages.
Enough time for hobbies and friends
Many students have favorite school subjects, but even if a discipline comes easily, it still doesn't guarantee 100 points on the exam. Journalists asked Dominika to share her secret to success.
— It seems to me that I always prepared for these exams in my own way: I participated in Olympiads in Russian, English, and social studies, — the girl recalls. — In 11th grade, I went to a Russian language tutor. I prepared for social studies using video lectures from one of the educational centers, sometimes even just playing them in the background while doing household chores. As for English, there was no additional preparation: the knowledge gained at Gymnasium No. 39 in Minsk was enough.
The applicant adds that her usual rhythm of life hardly changed due to exam preparation: there was enough time for friends, TV shows, and sports.
The latter even increased: boxing recently joined yoga.
«Even before the results were announced, I knew I had written everything correctly»
Before the exams, the graduate thought she needed to score at least 90 points, as it's practically impossible to get into the Faculty of International Relations with a lower result.
— After the exams, I left almost certain that I had written everything correctly, — Dominika recounts. — There were a few questions I doubted, but later I checked and confirmed that I had answered them correctly.
In her grade — almost 20 perfect scorers
Did her success impress her relatives and classmates?
— Among my classmates, I wouldn't say I'm unique: in our grade, 19 out of 103 people scored 100 points on one exam or another, — the girl says. — My parents, of course, were very happy. It seems to me their reaction was even more emotional than mine. As an encouragement, they promised to pay for my driving school, which I plan to attend very soon.
The arithmetic of success
Dominika submitted three CE and CT certificates to the admissions committee, each with 100 points, as well as a certificate with an average score of 9.8. In total, this is 398 points out of 400 possible. However, even such a result does not guarantee admission.
— Last year, for the specialty "International Law", 398 points was a semi-passing result, — notes the applicant. — Therefore, I, of course, hope to get in, but there is still a risk of not passing based on scores.
Only 10 people will be admitted to the state-funded form of education for this specialty. So far, only four applicants have submitted documents there, and the interlocutor's result is the highest. However, there are still four days left for document submission, and the situation can change significantly during this time.
Summer — a time of new opportunities
Now the girl only has to wait for the admissions campaign to end. She admits that she isn't even really tracking the intermediate results yet: the situation will become more or less clear on Friday.
Despite the very high passing scores, Dominika has every chance to sit at a student desk already in September. In the meantime, there's still almost half of summer ahead, which she plans to spend actively.
— I'll visit my grandmother, maybe find a summer job, — shares the perfect scorer.
She advises future applicants to follow their interests and choose subjects for exams that they truly enjoy. Then preparation for CT and CE will not be a burden, and the result will certainly be pleasing.
In 2026, the maximum result — 100 points — in the CT in Belarus was achieved by 583 graduates out of more than 66 thousand participants, and in the CE for profile subjects — by 638 people out of 58,850 eleventh-graders who took the exams.
