According to information from the 'Belpol' association, since the beginning of 2026, inventory, repair, and modernization of civil defense protective structures have been actively carried out in Belarus. The organization believes that the scale of these works and their implementation in various regions of the country indicate a systematic approach to restoring the network of shelters.
As an example, data for the Mogilev region is provided. As of early June, there were 276 protective structures, of which 204 were deemed suitable for use, while 72 were in an unsatisfactory condition. Some of these facilities are planned to be decommissioned, and the rest restored.
During inspections conducted in the first half of the year, violations were found in the condition and maintenance of individual shelters. As a result, officials were issued directives to eliminate shortcomings, and some were brought to administrative responsibility.
'Belpol' reports that more than forty protective structures have already been restored this year. At the same time, the number of facilities deemed unfit for operation has increased. This may not be due to a deterioration in their condition, but rather a more detailed inspection.
The association notes that the modernization of shelters itself does not indicate the inevitability of armed conflict. However, given the development of military cooperation between Belarus and Russia, these measures are considered part of state policy to increase readiness for possible emergencies and crisis scenarios.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, there are more than five thousand structures in the country that can be used to protect the population in the event of missile strikes.
