One of the Oldest Priests of the Grodno Diocese, Nikolai Hliad, Has Died
He was 70 years old.

Nikolai Hliad died on July 12 due to a sudden illness. He served in the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Dubno, Masty District.
“The death of Archpriest Nikolai Hliad is an irreplaceable loss for the Grodno Diocese. His life was entirely devoted to serving the Holy Church of Christ and the people he shepherded with unwavering pastoral zeal for over thirty-seven years,” the Grodno Diocese reports.
Nikolai Hliad was born on October 22, 1955, in the village of Rubel, Stolin District, Brest Region, into a devout family. A month later, he was baptized in the local church. He received a specialty in Ukraine and served in the army.
In October 1987, he married Maria Razanovich in a church ceremony. They had four sons: Andrei, Yury, Nikolai, and Vasili.
Feeling a calling to pastoral ministry, Father Nikolai Hliad entered the Minsk Theological Seminary, which he successfully completed in 1997. In 1988, he was ordained as a deacon, and then as a priest.
He served as rector of the church in the village of Kuzmichy, Vawkavysk District, then in Samuilavichy. He served in Dubno from December 2000. He was awarded several Belarusian Orthodox Church (BOC) awards.
