Maternity hospitals compete to see who will have more children born on July 3

An employee of one of the Belarusian maternity hospitals told «Nasha Niva» that as early as yesterday, the management set a task: as many Belarusians as possible must be born on July 3.

— They said: «Well, you understand, tomorrow is a big holiday, all maternity hospitals will compete to have more children born. So, we must try to make sure the results are 'beautiful'.»

The interlocutor notes that there are cases of induced labor in his maternity hospital. Pregnant women are persuaded to start giving birth at all costs on the «beautiful date». They try to motivate them with gifts — saying, for example, that an official will later come to congratulate them.

The first operation was already performed on the night of July 3, so that it could later be noted in the report that the child was born in the first minutes of Independence Day.

The doctor says that this is not a new practice: every year, July 3 is the most ideologically important date for Belarusian maternity hospitals.

By the way, last year the Ministry of Health boasted that on Independence Day, as many as 173 children were born in the country, which is more than the average daily figure.

It should also be noted that there is an interesting trend: overall, the birth rate in Belarus is falling, but precisely on July 3, an increase in the number of newborns is observed every year. In 2024 there were 158, in 2023—118.

New Year's Eve comes in second place of importance.

Propaganda truly loves to use children born in the first minutes of some holiday. Sometimes it reaches absurdity. For example, in 2023, pro-government media enthusiastically wrote about Yulia Matyushevskaya, who gave birth to a daughter in the first minute of the year — immediately after listening to Lukashenka's New Year's address.

Natalia Eismant came to congratulate the woman at «Mother and Child». In Pula Pervogo's video, the story looked maximally patriotic. It seemed that Yulia asked the anesthesiologist to turn on Lukashenka's address — and the child was so impressed by his speech that it hurried to be born.

But from the woman's second interview, it can be understood that the situation was different. She was hospitalized on December 29, as there were medical indications. They planned to perform a C-section on January 4, but as a result, they did it on New Year's Eve — so successfully that a beautiful 00:01 appeared in the medical documents.
