Minsk Emergency Situations Ministry explains where barbecues can be used in Minsk
Fire safety legislation does not prohibit kindling a barbecue in the yards of residential buildings.
"It is best to make fires and grill kebabs on a barbecue in specially designated areas in parks and other recreation zones. At the same time, fire safety legislation does not prohibit kindling a barbecue in the yards of residential buildings. But this must be done observing certain safety rules and precautions," said Olga Melchenko, official representative of the Minsk City Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, to Minsk-Novosti.
It is recommended to have a bucket of water or a fire extinguisher with you to immediately extinguish a fire in case of ignition. The use of flammable and combustible liquids for kindling charcoal in the barbecue is not allowed (with the exception of liquids specially designed for this purpose).
As for grilling kebabs on the balcony, this is strictly prohibited.
"The main thing is to watch out for sparks, because if the wind picks up, they can cause a fire. If any damage is caused by your fire (a bench or a neighbor's car catches fire), you will have to answer with the full force of the law," Olga Melchenko said.
For example, on the territory under the economic management of the Minsk City Forest Park Economy in the capital and Minsk district, 187 places for grilling kebabs have been equipped.
All of them are located on the shores of reservoirs:
- Minsk Sea: beaches № 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9;
- Drozdy reservoir: beaches № 5, 6, 7;
- Krynitsa reservoir: beaches № 3, 4;
- Tsnyanskoye reservoir: beaches № 1, 2, 3, 5.
According to Article 16.41 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, the fine for making fires in prohibited places is up to 12 basic units (540 rubles).
