Scientists have determined how to vacuum for perfect cleanliness.

The fundamental rule of effective cleaning starts with the device's contact time with the surface.
Floor care specialists, interviewed by Daily Mail journalists, state that at least 30 seconds should be dedicated to thoroughly cleaning each square meter of a home. However, if you have a leather sofa and a wooden or parquet floor, the time may be shorter.
This figure is not arbitrary but is determined by the physics of the dirt suction process. Dust, pet hair, and small particles do not simply lie on the surface but deeply penetrate carpet fibers and floor covering crevices. If you move the vacuum cleaner too quickly, it simply doesn't have enough time to suck up this dirt.
It is especially important to clean slowly and thoroughly in high-traffic areas – the hallway, corridors, and living room. In homes with pets, the problem is even more noticeable: fur and fine dust quickly get embedded in carpet fabric.
Experts advise vacuuming slowly, slightly overlapping already cleaned areas and changing the direction of movement. This helps lift carpet fibers and better extract dirt accumulated deep within the covering. Studies by home appliance manufacturers show that two to three passes are usually sufficient. Further repetition barely improves the cleaning result.
The quality of cleaning also directly depends on the technical condition of the appliance itself. A vacuum cleaner is a complex system that requires regular maintenance. A common mistake is using the device until the bag or container is completely full. Experts strongly recommend emptying the dust collector as soon as it is half full. This prevents a decrease in suction power and protects the motor from overheating.
It is equally important to regularly clean or, if provided by the manufacturer, rinse the filters, and also ensure the cleanliness of the brushes, because even the most expensive model will be useless with clogged air channels.
Also, don't neglect interchangeable nozzles: specialized brushes for narrow spaces or delicate furniture can significantly increase the overall cleaning efficiency.
However, even the most powerful vacuum cleaner has its limitations, and ignoring them can lead to equipment breakdown. There is a range of materials that are strictly forbidden to vacuum. These include fine particulate substances such as ash or wood shavings, which instantly clog filters, as well as sharp objects and glass shards capable of damaging the hose and internal parts.
Soil and plant debris are also best cleaned with a regular broom, as a vacuum cleaner can literally rub wet dirt into the carpet's structure. The greatest danger is vacuuming liquids: for a typical household appliance, this can result in a short circuit or even a fire.
