Minsk resident received a call from a polyclinic, was asked about health — lost 14 thousand rubles
The story unfolded according to a familiar scenario. An unknown person called the 39-year-old man in a messenger, identifying herself as an employee of the local polyclinic, "Militia of Minsk" reports.
She inquired about the data in his medical record, asked about any health problems, clarified his phone number for linking to an electronic card, and warned that a code would soon arrive which he would need to dictate.
Soon after, the Minsk resident received a call supposedly from the "E-service" and was informed that his personal data had been copied, and fraudsters had already taken out loans in his name at banks.
The man was warned that National Bank employees would contact him to provide further instructions. After this, the fake bank employees confirmed that loans were indeed allegedly taken out in the Minsk resident's name, and the money was being withdrawn abroad.
To avoid criminal liability and prove non-involvement in the fraudulent loans, the applicant collected all his money and transferred 14,000 rubles to the account specified by the fraudsters. Only then did he realize he had fallen victim to deception.
A criminal case has been initiated.
