A court in Moscow sentenced 27-year-old Ksenia Belousova. The girl was found guilty of "insulting the feelings of believers" and sentenced to 3 years and 25 days in a general regime penal colony. She was taken into custody in the courtroom, Russian media report.
The prosecutor requested slightly more for the girl — 3 years and 2 months of imprisonment. Previously, the girl already had a suspended sentence for possessing 5 grams of mephedrone. In this regard, the prosecution asked to revoke the suspended sentence and, by combining the punishments, to impose a real sentence in a penal colony.
In her final statement, 27-year-old Ksenia Belousova asked the court to limit itself to fines, cried and insisted that she herself is a believer, and her family supports the war against Ukraine:
“I have truly pleaded guilty, I repent and consider my act unacceptable. Now I know how important the attributes of Holy Easter are. I am a believer, I go to church. My family — my father, my brother — are members of the Special Military Operation. I ask for a punishment in the form of a fine,” she said.
However, the judges deemed the girl's motives "demonstratively mocking" and imposed a real prison sentence. The iPhone, from which the video of hookahs on Easter cakes was uploaded to the social network, was confiscated.
