Viktor Babaryka Presented the «Razam» Party in Brussels and Spoke About Three Important Directions of Its Work

On March 4, Viktor Babaryka presented his «Razam» party and delivered a speech at the Inter-Party Forum «8+100,» which is taking place in the European Parliament, reports Belsat.

Representatives of nine Belarusian democratic parties, which were liquidated after the events of 2020, were present at the forum.

In his speech, delivered in English, Viktor Babaryka addressed those present at the forum and noted that he would like to say many good words about their work over the long six years. Because, in his opinion, it was difficult for Belarusians to «remain on the agenda of European politics and be part of the European family,» especially when one could hear that «you are co-aggressors, from a country that started a war against freedom.»

«But I think that the regime is not [ordinary.— Ed.] people. Belarusians do not support this regime. And when I was in prison, many people, political and not only political prisoners, said that they do not support this war,» — noted Babaryka.

He said that now, with his «Razam» party, he is thinking about what can be done to improve this situation, and named three main directions of work on which to focus their efforts.

«I had many meetings with people in Warsaw, Vilnius, and Berlin. And we understand that we must continue our work in several directions. First: we must work to free all prisoners. Everyone agrees with this. Second: we must stop the creation of new prisoners, political prisoners. Third, very, very difficult: how to make European parties, European governments believe that Belarusians… that the Belarusian people are not the regime. And also, that Belarus is one of the parts of European security,» — said Viktor Babaryka.

He noted that it is now important to instill in the minds of European politicians and heads of government that Belarus must be part of Europe, because it is «not only our freedom, it is Europe's security.» Because 40 years ago, the Chernobyl disaster occurred in Belarus, and now another, a «civil catastrophe,» has occurred, and Belarus and Ukraine are part of this catastrophe.

«And so I think it is very important for us to create a new connection between Ukraine and Belarus… We must break Belarus's ties to Russia. And I am absolutely convinced that we can do this. And we are trying to do everything necessary to make this happen,» — said Viktor Babaryka, concluding his speech with the words «Long Live Belarus!».

Later, during the discussion, Babaryka once again clarified his opinion on the necessity of building a security system for the European continent, in which Belarus will not be tied to Russia.

«This is a key moment. Without Belarus becoming 'non-Russian', I am convinced, there will be no security in Europe. And primarily, this will concern the situation of Ukraine as well,» — said Viktor Babaryka.
