In Kyiv, Belarusian journalist Inna Kardash was arrested for espionage. They say she worked for the KGB since 2015

«As part of a joint, prolonged and complex special operation, the Internal Security Unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the SBU investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, exposed a Belarusian KGB spy who was trying to infiltrate one of the units of Ukrainian military intelligence.

The 35-year-old enemy agent was detained in Kyiv and has been charged with suspicion of espionage.

During the special operation, which lasted several months, the SBU and Internal Security Unit officers documented the criminal activities of the Belarusian spy and conducted an operational game with her, passing disinformation to her under the guise of secret information.

The Main Intelligence Directorate claims that the agent has been working for the Belarusian KGB since 2015, and in 2020 she was sent to the territory of Ukraine for intelligence work. Her cover was journalistic activity — after working for Medvedchuk's sanctioned channel «112», the spy got a job in one of the leading media outlets in Ukraine.

Later, on the orders of the curator, under the guise of the need for a medical examination, the woman went for additional instruction to one of the EU countries. From the Chekists, she received the task of collecting information about Belarusians and Russians fighting against the aggressor state on the side of Ukraine.

Also, the Belarusian spy was supposed to establish contacts with employees of the Chinese Embassy in Kyiv in order to collect information about the activities of Chinese diplomats in Ukraine.

After collecting a large amount of evidence, the enemy agent was detained in Kyiv, and a smartphone and a voice recorder that she used to collect classified information were confiscated.

At the moment, the spy is in custody. She faces up to 15 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property,» the Main Intelligence Directorate said in a statement published this morning.

Soon, however, the post was removed from the agency's channel for some reason.

Comparing the photo and details of the biography, we became convinced that we are talking about Ina Kardash, a native of Minsk, who was born in 1991.

According to excerpts from the Belpol database, Kardash worked for United Company and Maxbet from 2012-2015. From 2015 to 2018, the FSSN databases are empty, in 2018‑2019 she collaborated with Tutbymedia.

After that, Kardash worked as a freelance journalist for many foreign media outlets, which sometimes looked for performers on the ground.

At the same time, as an operator, she was often accompanied by Vasil Semashko, who went down in history as a provocateur, with whose help the KGB arrested Ukrainian journalist Pavlo Sharoyko in 2018.

Since 2020, Kardash has officially worked for the Ukraina TV channel in Belarus. Several times she was detained while covering the protests. For example, after the detention on August 16, 2020, the following entry appeared in the «Riots» database: «Individual preventive measures were carried out or an oral warning was announced.»

Probably, at the end of 2020, Kardash left Belarus.

In Ukraine, she worked for the 112.ua TV channel, and later for the local Interfax.
