Belarusian composer Oleg Molchan, who worked with the ensemble «Pesnyary», died at the age of 54, BelTA reports.

Molchan died after a prolonged illness.
Molchan was born in 1965 and graduated from the composition class at the conservatory. From 1987, he worked at the State Philharmonic, where he also composed songs for soloists of the Belarusian Concert Orchestra. In the 90s, he began working with the State Ensemble «Pesnyary», where in 1998 he became the musical director (the position was specially created for Molchan).
For «Pesnyary», Oleg Molchan wrote song cycles such as «Vyanok» (Wreath) and Ave Sole, as well as compositions «Stasya», «Milaya zhanhchyna» (Dear Woman), «Padmanitse miane» (Deceive Me), «Yunatstva» (Youth) and the famous song «Malitva» (Prayer) based on the verses of Yanka Kupala.
