Military pensioner from Dubrovno carried two FSB border guards on his hood and punched one of them in the face
The 56-year-old man was poaching on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, and they were disturbing him.
In February 2024, a military pensioner from Dubrovno, living in Russia's Leningrad Oblast, went to the shore of the Gulf of Finland in search of fish.
The fishing was successful — albeit illegal — but as the pensioner was driving out in his Volkswagen, he was met by several officers of the FSB Border Guard Service.
They asked to see what was in the car, but the man decided to break through. He drove directly at two officers who were standing in front of the hood. To avoid being run over, they grabbed onto the hood and side mirror — one held onto the hood near the windshield, bracing his feet against the bumper, the other held on similarly and with one hand to the mirror.
The man drove with them for about 200 meters, after which one of the victims fell off, and the car's rear left wheel ran over his leg. He carried the second border guard on the hood for another 600 meters until he stopped. When the officer ran up to the car, trying to detain the poacher, the driver punched him in the face. Only then was the pensioner detained.
As a result of the collision, one of the border guards suffered a torn calf muscle and other injuries, classified as minor.
The military pensioner fully admitted guilt and repented, and also voluntarily compensated the victims for moral damages — approximately $2000 and $1000.
The court found him guilty under Part 2 of Art. 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violence dangerous to life and health against a representative of authority) and sentenced him to 9 months in a penal colony. Given that the pensioner had spent six months in pre-trial detention, he was released in the courtroom.
For poaching, he was fined approximately $5000, and his car was confiscated.
