"I don't call Putin a dictator because I have to make deals with people, so I don't go around calling them names. I am a master of making deals. I have always been a very skilled negotiator. It is thanks to deals that I became very rich. So I don't go around mocking people," the US President said.
Trump is convinced that public insults and mockery of leaders of other states can complicate the achievement of diplomatic agreements.
He contrasted his own approach with the policies of former US President Joe Biden, whom he accused of constantly mocking Russia.
According to Trump, such behavior became one of the factors that led to the war in Ukraine.
"Biden constantly mocked Russia. He said it was a 'gas station with nuclear weapons' or something similar. But you cannot talk like that to a person who has a huge nuclear arsenal. This is one of the reasons why this war started," the US President stated.
However, he did not provide specific evidence that Biden's mockery was the cause of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
