Ten-year-old schoolboy gave away six gold bars for his parents' 'freedom'
Operatives of the criminal investigation department of the Central District Department of Internal Affairs of Minsk detained a 20-year-old courier for phone scammers, who had collected money from deceived children at least twice.
In the first case, he took a satchel from a 10-year-old schoolboy from the capital, which contained 18 thousand dollars and six gold bars, according to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The boy was intimidated and thought he was saving his parents from arrest. The day before, the scammers forced him to reveal a code from an SMS message, and then convinced him that he had thereby assisted criminals. And so now, he supposedly had to declare his family's savings.
After receiving the bag, the courier exchanged the gold for currency and hid all the money in a designated location for the next intermediary. In a similar manner, he collected money from a teenager in Skidal.
After his detention, the Minsk resident explained that he had found a courier vacancy on a job search website and did not realize he was helping scammers steal other people's money.
