Olympic champion in canoe sprint Aliaksandr Bahdanovich has been re-elected as chairman of the Ice Hockey Federation of Belarus. This decision was made on July 10 at the organization's reporting and election conference.

No other candidates were nominated for the position, so Aliaksandr Bahdanovich was elected by open ballot for a new four-year term. He has led the organization since October 2021.
Before transitioning to leadership roles in sports, Aliaksandr Bahdanovich was a renowned canoeist. At the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, he won a gold medal, and at the London Games in 2012 — a silver one.
After ending his sports career, Bahdanovich was a deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus from 2016 to 2019. In 2017, he became the head of the Belarusian Association of Student Sports, and in 2021, he was elected chairman of the Athletes' Commission of the National Olympic Committee of Belarus.
