The leader of the "Taliban" movement, Haibatullah Akhundzada, issued a new verbal directive prohibiting members of the movement and civil servants from using smartphones.

The document states that violators will be considered offenders and may face a military court.

The directive was sent by the Taliban's Ministry of Justice to the heads of military courts operating under the military division of the movement's Supreme Court in eight zones of the country. Police chiefs and heads of intelligence agencies in these regions were also informed about the directive.

Three days ago, a separate directive from the Islamic education department of the Taliban's Ministry of Education prohibited students from bringing smartphones to schools and religious educational institutions.
