Hail the size of a walnut fell in eastern Belarus PHOTOS

Bad weather broke out in Mstsislaw, where hailstones reached about 32 millimeters in diameter, reports the Telegram channel «Meteovibe».

Forecasters classified this phenomenon as a red level of danger, meaning an increased risk for people, transport, and infrastructure.

Such large hail is a fairly rare phenomenon for Belarus. According to "Mogilevoblgidromet," the usual size of hail in the country is about 5-6 millimeters. Hail exceeding 2 centimeters is considered particularly dangerous and occurs in one place approximately once every 40-50 years.

However, it is noted that the current incident is far from Belarus's absolute record. The largest hail recorded in the country was observed on July 11, 1953, in the Braslav district. At that time, hailstones reached 8-10 centimeters in diameter — comparable to the size of a chicken egg.
