This road is one of the region's important transport arteries. A large number of passenger and cargo vehicles travel on it daily, so the intensity of traffic here remains high. However, in recent years, a significant number of serious road traffic accidents have occurred specifically on one section of the highway.
According to the State Automobile Inspectorate, in four years — from 2021 to 2025 — 14 accidents occurred on this section of the road. As a result, five people died, and 14 others sustained injuries of varying severity.
The latest fatal accident on this highway occurred on June 2, 2026, in the Smalyavichy district. Three cars collided then. Three people were injured, and one of the victims, an 87-year-old driver of a VAZ car, died in the hospital on June 9.
After this, State Automobile Inspectorate officers conducted a detailed analysis of all accidents that occurred on this section since 2021. They studied the circumstances of the incidents, their causes, and the condition of the road infrastructure.
The analysis results showed that in most cases, one of the main factors contributing to accidents was excessively high vehicle speed. In this regard, inspectors additionally surveyed the dangerous section of the highway and decided to change the speed limit.
Now the maximum permitted speed on this section of the road will be reduced to 90 kilometers per hour.
The State Automobile Inspectorate hopes that this measure will force drivers to be more attentive and careful, help reduce the number of serious accidents, and increase the safety of all road users on the road between Minsk, Smalyavichy, Zhodzina, and Barysaŭ.
