In the Brest district, an entrepreneur took 100 dollars from a client. And then regretted it greatly. The individual entrepreneur (IE) is engaged in car repair. Another client decided to pay in foreign currency. The amount was not too large. But the information somehow leaked out.
As a result, the entrepreneur ended up in court. He was accused of violating the currency regulation law, which prohibits such settlements. The repairman tried to explain that the client gave him the dollars to buy spare parts. But the court was not convinced, writes prof.by.
The entrepreneur received an administrative penalty for illegally accepting foreign currency. He was fined 16 times more than those 100 dollars — the repairman will have to pay 100 basic units, which is currently 4500 rubles.
The Brest resident was still lucky: he was assigned the minimum fine under this article. An IE can be punished up to 200 basic units, which means up to 9000 rubles.
In general, only companies that earn from transporting goods abroad or in transit can receive payment in foreign currency in Belarus. Foreign currency can also be used to pay in Duty Free shops.
