In Belarus, from June 1 to September 15, a special preventive program called "Poppy" will be conducted. It is aimed at preventing the spread of plant raw materials from which drugs can be produced.

The police emphasize that growing or even keeping plants containing narcotic substances (for example, poppy or hemp) on one's own plot is a violation of the law. Moreover, this can contribute to crimes, as such plants can be used by people who consume drugs.
It is separately noted that even if poppies or hemp grew accidentally, they must be immediately destroyed.
For the presence of such plants on a plot, a fine is provided — up to 20 basic units. If it is proven that they are grown for sale, the punishment is much more severe — up to 15 years of imprisonment.
Also, heads of enterprises and organizations are instructed to monitor territories and take measures to prevent the growth of wild narcotic plants.
