Pashinyan: Armenia will continue to work in the EAEU until the choice between the EU and the EAEU becomes inevitable

And holding a referendum on this issue is illogical for now.

"We are working in the Eurasian Economic Union and will continue to work until the moment when the choice between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union becomes inevitable. And the decision, naturally, will have to be made by the people of the Republic of Armenia through a referendum," Pashinyan said live on social networks, reported "Dozhd".

According to Pashinyan, until Armenia officially applies for EU membership or approaches the status of a candidate for EU membership, holding any referendum on this issue is illogical.

"Accordingly, we will continue to work calmly, without polemics, in the EAEU. And I am confident that in this direction we still have potential that we will use in the near future," he said.

In addition, the Prime Minister noted that the relations between Armenia and Russia are in a stage of transformation and called it a positive phenomenon, "because in the conditions of the new situation, we are building new relations with Russia."

"I am confident that we will succeed, including because our relations with Russia are open and sincere," Pashinyan added.

On May 29, following the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, Armenia was offered to choose between the EU and the EAEU by holding a referendum on this issue "in a short time."

Parliamentary elections are scheduled to be held in Armenia on June 7.
