"Alesya" prepares to dive under Svislach. How the metro will cross the river
Minsk metro builders are preparing for a "dive" under the Svislach – tunneling complexes will pass several meters below the riverbed of the Svislach. The "Minskstroy" Telegram channel explains why the builders blocked the riverbed.

The "Alesya" tunneling shield is currently about two kilometers from the water artery. The mechanized complex will soon have to dive under the river.
Metro builders prepared in advance for the crucial stage. Groundwater levels were lowered in the area, after which the Svislach riverbed was divided into two parts by sheet piling.
While the river continues its calm flow along one half, on the other, a 500 mm thick reinforced concrete slab has already been poured with a slope towards the center, and a dividing wall made of blocks has been installed.

As soon as the structure gains the necessary strength, the sheet piling will be dismantled from the first part, and work will be moved to the second half of the riverbed.
After the slab is joined, the dividing wall will be removed. This technology will reliably protect the transfer tunnels from groundwater infiltration and eliminate the risk of soil subsidence.
