Margarita Levchuk Even Underwent a Polygraph Test to Obtain Ukrainian Permanent Residency

The path for a Belarusian woman to be considered a human in Ukraine now:

  • marry a Ukrainian man;
  • give birth to a Ukrainian son;
  • collect many different documents, have them translated multiple times, because terrible translators can't get it right the first time;
  • spend an hour on an SBU interrogation;
  • two hours undergoing a polygraph test;
  • wait eight months;
  • finally see a written permit for obtaining permanent residency;
  • but before receiving the plastic ID itself, wait for migration representatives to check the registration address;
  • receive another permit from the SBU.

And voilà:

I have Ukrainian permanent residency, and today I'll even have a drink," — wrote Margarita Levchuk.
