A woman from Minsk got a cute rooster instead of a dog, walks him around the city and visits cafes
The decorative rooster Shalopenye sleeps with his owner and accompanies her on the way to the pharmacy or post office. Elena Shchatko from Minsk told "Smartpress" how she got this unusual pet.

Elena is 54 years old, she works in a veterinary clinic and lives with her husband in a private house. Previously, she kept parrots and canaries. A year ago, together with a friend, she bought eggs of Malaysian Serama decorative chickens and an incubator. That's how Shalopenye appeared.
Now the rooster is almost a year old. He is small: about 25 cm tall and weighs 500 g. He walks freely around the house and accompanies his owner everywhere, eating at the table from his own plate. The rooster sleeps with his owner in bed on a towel and doesn't wake her at dawn: he has adapted to her routine and only crows after she gets up.
Elena often takes Shalopenye to the city: they walk on the streets, visit cafes, and if necessary, go to the post office or pharmacy.
"When I have a day off, I'm everywhere with him. I say: 'Let's go for a walk!', and he already runs to the car. I open the door - and Shalopenye jumps onto the front seat himself, where his mattress is. He spends the whole trip on it, literally not moving (he doesn't run around the car cabin)."

In a year, they have never been denied entry to a cafe. There, the rooster sits on a towel on the back of a chair. He is not afraid of dogs, but he asks to be picked up when crows, who hunt him, approach.
Most passers-by react with curiosity: they take photos, ask to pet him, especially children, some of whom have never seen a live rooster.
He had four teeth knocked out, and then was expelled from the country. Now the former political prisoner has been arrested in Latvia with six migrants in his car
