New Artistic Director of Kupala Theater Also Works in Abkhazia
Dmitry Akimov is directing a play in a local theater.

Russian director Dmitry Akimov, who became the artistic director of the Belarusian Yanka Kupala National Academic Theater, simultaneously works in the unrecognized Republic of Abkhazia, writes "Zerkalo".
The Fazil Iskander Abkhaz State Russian Drama Theater announced that rehearsals are underway there for the play "The Picture of Dorian Gray" based on Oscar Wilde's famous novel. Dmitry Akimov is the director of the new production, and the premiere is scheduled for December 18.
Last year, the Abkhaz State Youth Theater congratulated Akimov on his 40th birthday.
Dmitry Akimov became the new artistic director of the Yanka Kupala National Academic Theater, where plays are performed in the Belarusian language, in March. He replaced Olga Nefyodova, who headed the artistic department of the theater since 2020.
