Russophile Artsiom Ahafonau Left Belarus

“Russian politics, despite the war, remains alive,” he shares after moving.

Pro-Russian activist Artsiom Ahafonau from Babruisk has left Belarus, noted the channel “Vitebsk, I’m Walking!”

“I continue to be interested in Belarusian politics, despite the move,” Ahafonau wrote in his channel.

He further reflected on the dullness of Belarusian officials — stating that almost no one can be remembered, except for Prime Minister Alexander Turchin and the head of the Mogilev region, Anatol Isachenka. However, “Russian politics, despite the war, remains alive.”

“Unfortunately, politicians in Belarus have ended. Except for one. What remains are functionaries. People are functions, and little will change from moving them around,” Ahafonau noted.

Earlier, Ahafonau had repeatedly written that he was considering leaving Belarus. In August 2024, he spent a day in a temporary detention facility and received a fine for “spreading extremism” (following a complaint from a Vitebsk activist). After this, the police continued to show interest in him — for example, summoning him to the department to watch a propaganda film.

Apparently, he moved to Russia and returned to political activities. For example, he became the face of the video news “Plus/Minus Three” from the pro-Russian project “Belnews.”
