European Parliament Decides to Abolish European Tariffs on Industrial Goods from the US
The European Parliament in Strasbourg voted on June 16 to temporarily abolish European tariffs on industrial goods from the US. This decision still requires formal approval by the Council of EU countries – the Council must do so by July 4.

It is on this day that US President Donald Trump expects the abolition of EU tariffs for the US. The abolition of tariffs is planned to be in effect until December 31, 2029.
The European Parliament's decision is part of a deal that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Donald Trump struck last August, writes Bild.
In response to the abolition of European tariffs, the US President promised to levy a maximum of 15% tariffs on most goods from the EU. However, the implementation of the deal was delayed for months, which caused growing dissatisfaction in Washington. Because of this, Trump threatened additional tariffs on cars if the EU does not fulfill the condition of the deal by early July.
In the corresponding law, the European Parliament also included a clause: if Trump violates the agreement and raises tariffs, the European Commission, with the consent of the member states, can reintroduce European tariffs.
