The Ministry of Health recommends that citizens refrain from visiting the aforementioned African countries without extreme necessity.
When staying in countries endemic for Ebola fever, a number of rules are recommended to be strictly observed for the purpose of infection prevention. It is necessary to observe personal hygiene rules (regular hand washing, use of antiseptics), avoid close contact with people showing signs of infectious diseases, exclude contact with wild animals (bats, primates, etc.), and also avoid visiting their habitats.
In case of symptoms of an infectious disease (fever, weakness, headache, muscle pain) after returning from countries unfavorable for Ebola fever, it is necessary to immediately seek medical help. It is recommended to call an ambulance crew home, making sure to inform the dispatcher about the fact of your stay.
According to the latest WHO data, the outbreak of the disease caused by the Ebola virus strain called "Bundibugyo" has already led to 220 probable deaths and 900 registered cases of the disease.
Against this variety of Ebola, there is currently neither a vaccine nor approved drugs, as it is relatively little studied.
The virus, in addition to the DRC, has also spread to Uganda, where seven cases of the disease have been registered.
According to the DRC authorities, about 1000 people currently show symptoms characteristic of Ebola. Medical professionals are also trying to locate 3.6 thousand people who are believed to have been in contact with infected individuals.
The fight against the disease is complicated by a lack of essential supplies and the distrust of the local population, frightened by previous outbreaks of the disease.
Last week, at the epicenter of the Ebola outbreak, a crowd of residents set fire to part of a hospital where the body of one of the deceased was located, as the administration refused to hand over the remains to his relatives.
