Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez admitted that the government "made mistakes" and explained that in order "to do more," he needs to "renew and expand people's support."

The head of the left-wing government, Pedro Sánchez, made an official statement today to announce early elections on November 29, writes El Pais.
Sánchez admitted that the government "made mistakes" and explained that in order "to do more," he needs to "renew and expand people's support."
After a busy weekend, during which he held numerous consultations with members of his government, leaders of his party, and partners from other political forces, Sánchez decided to take this step and dissolve parliament nine months before the end of its term, which until now he had always intended to complete.
The reason was the failure in parliament last Friday of two housing decrees prepared by the government in response to public mobilization following the eviction of an 87-year-old woman, Maricarmen Abascal, in Madrid.
This sparked demonstrations across the country, gathering thousands of citizens over the weekend to demand a solution to the housing crisis.
