Donald Trump's press secretary, Caroline Leavitt, has given birth to her second child. A girl named Viviana — or "Vivi" — was born on May 1st. Leavitt announced this on her Instagram profile, which has three million followers, Bild reports.
"She is perfect and healthy, and her older brother is happily adjusting to life with his new baby sister. We are enjoying every moment in our happy newborn bubble," Leavitt wrote.
The child's father is real estate developer Nicholas Rich. The couple already has a son, Nico, who was born in July 2024.
Leavitt is the youngest press secretary in White House history and the first to hold the position while pregnant. She announced her pregnancy in December: "The greatest Christmas gift we could ever dream of."
While Leavitt is on maternity leave, cabinet members are conducting press conferences.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio first spoke in this role on May 5th — one White House official called him a "natural talent" and praised his stance on Iran.
Soon, Vice President J.D. Vance is also expected to fulfill the role of press secretary. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and other politicians may also join — "perhaps even the President himself," one U.S. official reported.
