Donald Trump stated that the war in Ukraine continues because his predecessor, Joseph Biden, allegedly provided Kyiv with financial aid amounting to 350 billion dollars. He said this during a briefing, writes "Ukrainska Pravda".
According to the American president, it is the lack of financial support for Ukraine from the United States that would stop the hostilities. He emphasized that America is separated from the conflict by an ocean, whereas European countries feel it as a problem on their doorstep, yet the US is still forced to help them.
"You know, they made a real mess in Ukraine, a complete mess. And we are helping them with Ukraine. Ukraine has nothing to do with it. You know... an ocean separates us. This concerns them. For them, it's like their own front door. We are helping them. And Biden gave them 350 billion dollars, which was crazy. That's one of the reasons why the war continues."
In reality, US aid to Ukraine under Biden amounted to not 350, but 120 billion dollars. After Trump came to power, Washington shifted the burden of aid to this victim of Russian aggression to European countries but continued weapons supplies paid for by other countries and the transfer of intelligence.
In addition, Trump was asked whether he was considering reducing the number of American military contingents not only in Germany but also in Italy and Spain.
"Yes, possibly. Why not? Italy hasn't helped us with anything, and Spain behaved terribly — absolutely terribly."
