Russia will need a few more days without Ukrainian attacks in late May
Russia plans to ask for another temporary ceasefire in late May to repair the "Dniprovska" power supply line, which powers the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. This was announced by the head of "Rosatom", Aleksey Likhachev, writes RBC.

The head of Rosatom, Aleksey Likhachev, stated that such a pause is necessary to resolve problems with the station's energy supply. According to him, the timing of a possible "silence" is linked to the water level in the Dnipro, which depends on the spring flood.
He noted that it is tentatively planned to agree on a ceasefire regime in the third decade of May. Likhachev also claims that it was calm at the ZNPP and in the city of Enerhodar on May 9, although the previous situation remained tense due to damage to the energy infrastructure.
Similar local ceasefires around the plant have occurred before, when the parties temporarily halted fire to restore damaged power lines under IAEA supervision.
The Zaporizhzhia NPP, which was captured by Russian troops in 2022, was the largest nuclear power plant in Europe before the war. Since then, it has repeatedly come under shelling and operates in a cold shutdown mode.
