Holy Sneakers. The internet discusses Pope Leo XIV's vintage footwear
Leo XIV sets a new trend for papal footwear.

Pope Leo XIV wears white sneakers with his papal attire. This is seen in the trailer for the documentary "Leone a Roma," published by Vatican News.
The Pope's footwear choice caused a stir on social media, writes BILD.
Leo XIV doesn't just wear sneakers. People were particularly impressed that Pope Leo's footwear appears to be vintage. These are Nike Franchise Low — sneakers that first came out in the seventies but were re-released in 2008.
Pope Leo XIV is not the first pontiff with a love for comfortable footwear. For example, Benedict XVI appeared at an audience in 2005 wearing red slippers. The Italian press was delighted and called him the "Prada Pope." The bright red shoes became a topic of discussion worldwide, although the Vatican later clarified that they were not Prada but the work of a Vatican shoemaker.
Benedict's successor, Pope Francis, wore personalized Nike sneakers — white and yellow in the Vatican's colors, adorned with his personal coat of arms. They were a gift to him. The words "Pope" and "Francis" embellished the heels of the shoes. Francis was clearly pleased with the unusual gift. Usually, however, he preferred black orthopedic shoes — due to chronic knee problems.
A monument to pilots Nichyparchyk and Kukanenka was erected near St. Sophia in Polotsk. But not even a plane of the model on which they died, but a Stalin-era airplane
