Claude draws charts and diagrams directly in chat

Anthropic announced the launch of a new feature in its chatbot that allows the system to create charts, diagrams, and other visual materials directly in the course of a dialogue, writes Devby.io.

Now Claude can automatically add visual explanations to its answers if it deems them helpful for better understanding the topic. Users can also directly ask the chatbot to create a diagram, table, or chart.

Claude can now build interactive charts and diagrams, directly in the chat.

Available today in beta on all plans, including free.

As an example, the company cites an explanation of the periodic table, where the system generates an interactive visualization with the ability to navigate to additional information on individual elements, as well as diagrams demonstrating, for example, load distribution in building structures.

Anthropic states that this is not about full-fledged image generation. Visual elements are created using HTML markup and XML vector graphics, effectively giving the chatbot access to a "virtual whiteboard" for illustrations. Such visualizations appear directly within the dialogue and can change or disappear as it progresses.

The new function is currently in beta testing, so developers warn of possible glitches or limitations. In particular, visualizations are not yet supported in mobile versions of Claude. The update is available to all users of the service.

Earlier this week, OpenAI introduced a similar capability in ChatGPT for interactive explanation of scientific and mathematical concepts, and Google implemented tools in Gemini for creating educational visual materials.
