Apartment in old house for party elite in Minsk city center sold for $380,000

On January 9, as the country was getting acquainted with Cyclone Uli, a remarkable deal took place in Minsk. An apartment, located in one of Belarus's first "club" houses, found new owners.

The five-story building at Bronyavy Lane, 4, was constructed in 1967 for the party elite. The word "five-story building" should not confuse you: it is infinitely far from the familiar Khrushchevkas, writes Onliner.by.

The brick building with four entrances houses only 44 apartments with large windows and three-meter ceilings. Each section also has an elevator: no running up to the top floor with heavy bags. The house was "purpose-built": apartments in it belonged to six former chairmen of the Council of Ministers of the BSSR — Nikolai Avkhimovich, Tikhon Kiselyov, Alexander Aksyonov, Vladimir Brovikov, Mikhail Kovalyov, Vyacheslav Kebich.

Of course, over the long years of the house's existence, its residents have changed repeatedly. Another housewarming is ahead. A 100-square-meter, three-room apartment, located on one of the lower floors, awaits its new owners.

According to the National Cadastral Agency, the apartment was sold for a substantial 1,122,900 rubles, or $380,000 at the exchange rate. This means each square meter cost the buyer the equivalent of $3800. Which is not surprising: the apartment was sold with a fresh, modern renovation.

Here's how the agency handling the sale described it: "The apartment features a high-quality, classic renovation using European collectible materials; all appliances were brought from Europe." The new owners only need to "unpack" the sofa beds and arrange their belongings. At the moment, this is the most significant deal in Minsk.
