Authorities plan to reduce the number of auctions for the sale of rental housing
Belarus is considering the possibility of canceling auctions for the sale of certain types of vacant rental housing. This was announced on the "Belarus-1" broadcast by Andrei Ramashka, Deputy Minister of Housing and Communal Services.

Depending on the condition of the housing, demand for it, and location, three options for use are envisioned: renovation with subsequent rental, sale, or demolition.
In Belarus, there are about 165 thousand rental residential premises with a total area of more than 9 million square meters. About 75% of this fund — approximately 125 thousand premises — consists of housing that residents have not privatized. Meanwhile, more than 15 thousand publicly owned residential premises have been vacant for more than six months.
As Ramashka noted, the demolition of such housing requires significant expenses and is not always economically feasible.
To simplify the sale of vacant premises, the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services proposes to change the relevant procedures. In particular, executive committees could identify zones where housing is in higher demand or is located within natural reserves. In such places, sales are proposed to be conducted through auctions, while in other cases, if the housing can be sold at a base price, it would be sold without an auction.
